Prof. B Raja Shekhar, senior faculty in the School of Management Studies at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been appointed Pro Vice Chancellor 2 in place of Prof. P Prakash Babu whose term ended on 5 July 2019.
Prof.B. Raja Shekhar has a commendable track record in the field of higher education as an academic and academic administrator. Prof. Shekhar associated with the School of Management Studies since its inception (June 1999) and he is also Coordinating a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management offered by the Center for Distance Education and Virtual Learning, UoH. He was also associated with the Telangana State Public Service Commission as one of the members of the committee for formulation of scheme and syllabus. As the Dean of the School of Management Studies, UoH, Prof. Shekhar has played a significant role in launching a unique MBA programme in Business Analytics at UoH. He is also coordinating a MOOCs in Research Methodology for Social Sciences through SWAYAM of MHRD. Prof. Shekhar is appointed as one of the members of the expert committee constituted by UGC to draft Learning Outcomes Based Curriculum Framework for Management.Prof. Shekhar participated in LEAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme) of MHRD at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and one week training programme on “Becoming a top 100 university” at Monash University, Melbourne,Australia. Prof. Shekhar successfully coordinated LEAP of MHRD at UoH as Associate Coordinator.
Prof. Raja Shekhar obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and three Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Psychology and Education. Prof. Shekhar was awarded two doctorate degrees in Business Management and Psychology. He also underwent a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA). Prof. Shekhar is an authority on Research Methodology and conducted many Research Methodology Workshops. He is a popular Resource person and has been delivering lectures in several Research Methodology programmes. Under his guidance 14 Scholars have been awarded Doctorate degrees. Prof. Shekhar has published 77 research papers in International, National journals, Books and Conference proceedings. One of his Research papers (with Subrahmanyam Annamdevula) titled ‘The effects of service quality on student loyalty: the mediating role of student satisfaction’ published in Journal of Modelling in Management was identified as a Highly Commended paper in the 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence. He also published and edited books in the area of Consumer Protection, Supply Chain Management and Quality Management. Prior to joining the University of Hyderabad he taught at Kakatiya University and Kamala Nehru Polytechnic for women. Besides his academic activities, he also served various administrative positions in the university including Registrar, Dean Students’ Welfare, Chief Warden, Head of the Department of Education and Educational Technology etc.
Prof. Shekhar is visiting faculty to various Training Institutions, which include UGC-Human Resource Development Centers, National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of AP, National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Indian Institute of Public Health, RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy, Navodaya Leadership Institute, National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management etc. He regularly delivers lectures in the areas of Career Planning and Personality Development at varied graduate and postgraduate colleges and Universities.
Prof. Shekhar primary areas of interests include Service Quality, Quantitative Techniques, Operations Management, Research Methodology and Industrial & Organizational Psychology.
