University of Hyderabad will offer new post-graduate courses, including in Applied Geology, Sanskrit Studies, and Microelectronics and VLSI design, in the next academic year, and increase its overall increase in intake from about 1900 last year to 2140.

These new programmes were approved at the University’s 84th Academic Council meeting held on Friday. In addition, doctoral programmes in Electronics Science & Engineering and Systems & Computational Biology as well as an Integrated M Sc /PhD programme in Animal Biology & Biotechnology are also being introduced. Moreover, admissions will resume this year in certain subjects, including M Tech in Nanoscience and Technology, M.Phil in Anthropology and Regional Studies, and Ph D in Hindi and Anthropology.

The Academic Council also resolved to institute a medal for the topper among OBC students in each of the teaching programmes in the University from 2019 onwards.
