Professor M. Ghanashyam Krishna, Senior Professor in the Centre for Advanced Studies in Electronics Science and Technology, School of Physics, University of Hyderabad has been elected as Academician of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM) for his contributions to the areas of thin films, nanostructured materials and sensors.

Prof. M. Ghanashyam Krishna
APAM is a scientific society oriented on problems of promotion of close cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region in field of advanced materials with members from Australia, Russia, India, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Prof. Ghanashyam Krishna is only the second faculty member of the University of Hyderabad after Prof. T.P. Radhakrishnan of the School of Chemistry to be elected as Academician of APAM. He is also a Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences and Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Ghanashyam Krishna joined the University of Hyderabad as faculty member in 2001. Professor Krishna’s research work focuses on processing, characterization and fabrication of thin film-based materials and devices for electronic, optical and optoelectronic applications; nanostructured materials and devices; metal induced crystallization of Silicon; development of self-cleaning and oil-water separation substrates; and physical, chemical and biosensor development. This has resulted in development of some novel physical vapour deposition-based processes; multi-functional metal oxide and nitride thin films; superhydrophobic self-cleaning nanostructures; different types of physical, chemical and biosensors. He is also a co-inventor in a US/European patent awarded for the development of a process to stabilize Ti2N thin films. He has around 175 international journal publications and supervised/co-supervised 20 PhD students in his career. Prof. Ghanashyam Krishna is currently serving as the Director, Institution of Eminence programme at the University of Hyderabad and has recently been nominated as a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Industry Academia Partnership forum.
Congratulations and best wishes to Professor M. Ghanashyam Krishna.
