Dr Tania Anupam Patel was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis Law School, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, on 1 December 2025, where she teaches courses in Political Science and International Relations. Prior to this appointment, she served as a Teaching Associate at the same institution, contributing to teaching and academic activities in the field of Political Science.

Dr Patel completed her Master’s, MPhil, and PhD in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad. She was awarded her PhD in November 2025 under the supervision of Dr Aparna Devare for her thesis titled “Border Dynamics in Jammu: Narratives of Nation and Belonging at the India–Pakistan Border.” Her doctoral research examined questions of identity and belonging in the lived realities of communities along the India–Pakistan international border in three districts of the Jammu region, exploring how borderlanders socially construct the border through their narratives and everyday practices.

She has also been awarded two Gold Medals—the University Medal and the Prof. G. Ram Reddy Memorial Medal for Women Topper—for securing the first rank in M.A. Political Science. She also received the UGC Junior & Senior Research Fellowship (JRF/SRF).

Dr Patel has presented her research at several national and international conferences. Her article, “Bordering and Othering: The Encounters at the Shrine of Chamliyal at the India–Pakistan Border,” was published in the Journal of Borderlands Studies in 2023. Her research interests include Border Studies, India–Pakistan relations, South Asian politics, and International Relations Theory.
