The National Foundation for India (NFI) announced the names of the fellows selected for the second round of media fellowships for independent journalists in 2021. A total of 36 independent journalists have been selected, who will be reporting in English and Malayalam.

Amritha Mohan

Amritha Mohan a PhD Research Scholar from the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad was selected for the English Language fellowship from Kannur, Kerala along with 25 others selected from different parts of the country.

Sindhu Mariya Nepolean

Sindhu Mariya Nepolean, an alumna of the Department of Communication (2016-2018) was selected for the Malayalam Fellowship for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala along with 9 others from different regions of Kerala.

The fellows who hail from a broad range of communities and geographies, will spend the next 30-45 days working on the ground, researching and writing on their chosen subject. Each fellow will publish a text story by the end of the fellowship period and will receive a grant of INR 30,000, mentoring and assistance in getting their stories published in multiple languages.
