Debankita Das, a PhD research scholar at the Department of History, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH), research paper, titled “Representation of Memory through Commemoration in the early historic site of Kanaganahalli, India (c. 1st-century BCE – 3rd century CE)” was selected for oral presentation at the LAC 2024: Landscape Archaeology Conference at Universidad De Alcalá, in Madrid, Spain held from June 10th-14th 2024 at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Universidad De Alcalá, and was organised by the Universidad De Alcalá, Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and International Association of Landscape Archaeology, IALA.

 

 

 

Debankita is working under the supervision of Prof. Suchandra Ghosh, Department of History. She was the only Indian as an oral presenter of the panel session on the Memoryscapes of the Landscapes.

 

Debankita was also selected for visit and documentation purposes with the Archaeological Research Team to The Valley of the Neanderthals Archaeological Park in Pinilla Del Valle, Madrid, which she described as a profound life experience. Her conference presentation was a part of the UoH-Institute of Eminence (IOE) research project entitled “Representation, Self-representations, and Narrations: Exploring the twin sites of Sannati and Kanaganahalli in northern Karnataka in the Early Historic Period” and her travel was funded by IoE, UoH and she is thankful to the university of Hyderabad for this opportunity.
