124th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar celebrated at UoH
Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 124th birth anniversary at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 14th April 2015. Vice-Chancellor Prof. E Haribabu, Dean-School of Economics Prof. G Nancharaiah , Registrar Shri M Sudhakar, Finance Officer Shri Pandu Reddy, Controller of Examinations Prof. V Krishna, Dean Students Welfare Prof. P Prakash Babu, Joint Registrar – Reservations Dr. P H Naik, , faculty members, staff and students paid homage to the father of the Indian Constitution at the administration building.
“Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar lives in the hearts of and minds of Indians. His life is characterized by unmatched determination and a firm commitment towards social justice. He was a successful lawyer, visionary, scholar, writer and intellectual who served the nation and the people selflessly,” E Haribabu said in his message.
“None can forget Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution in the making of our Constitution. He will always be in the hearts of people of India. Let us pledge to dedicate ourselves to creating the India that Dr. Ambedkar dreamt of, an India that will make him proud,” he added.
A great social reformer, Dr. Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He dedicated his entire life for the uplifting of the deprived sections of society. As a member of the Constitution-drafting committee, Ambedkar provided constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens. This included the right to freedom of religion, the abolition of untouchability and the outlawing of all forms of discrimination.
