Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 130th birth anniversary at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 14th April 2021. Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, Shri P Sardar Singh, Registrar, faculty members, officers and staff paid homage to the father of the Indian Constitution at the administration building.

Prof. Appa Rao Podile in his address recalled the contributions made by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. “His life and achievements are an example for each one of us to follow and his unmatched determination and a firm commitment towards social justice is appreciated worldwide even today. Dr. Ambedkar was a successful lawyer, scholar, writer, visionary and Intellectual who served our country and the people selflessly; not to forget his contributions to the economy of our country”, he added.

Prof. Appa Rao called upon all present to emulate the message and ideas of Dr. Ambedkar for the larger benefit of the society.

A great social reformer, Dr. Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of the deprived sections of society. As the Chairman & member of the Constitution-drafting committee, Dr. Ambedkar provided constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens. This included the right to freedom of religion, the abolition of untouchability and the outlawing of all forms of discrimination.
