Dr S Venugopal Rao of the Advanced Centre for Research in High Energy materials (ACRHEM) at University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been elevated as a senior grade member of the The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Only 8 % of the 4,19,000 IEEE members in more than 160 countries are in the senior grade which requires significant experience, reflects professional maturity and documented achievements of significance. This is a significant milestone for the contributions to the profession.
Dr. Venugopal came to ACRHEM in 2007 from IIT-Guwahati, where he had joined the Physics department after a postdoc in Scotland. His doctoral work was at the UoH, on Incoherent Laser Spectroscopy for the measurement of ultra-fast relaxation times and third order nonlinearities in a variety of organic molecules.
