University of Hyderabad – On April 23, 2026, the Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Library, in collaboration with Turnitin, conducted a vital training programme titled “Building a Culture of Academic & Research Integrity in the Age of AI with Turnitin.” held at the Seminar Hall, School of Social Sciences, the event addressed the dual nature of artificial intelligence as both a challenge and a tool in modern scholarship.

The session commenced with an introductory speech by Dr. O. Sivasankar Prasad, University Librarian I/c. Dr. Prasad emphasized the immediate necessity and importance of AI in the current research landscape. He noted that while AI offers unprecedented support for academic writing and data analysis, its integration must be balanced with a steadfast commitment to ethical standards and originality.

The technical session was delivered by Mr. Gautam Raval, Customer Success Manager (South Asia) along with Ms. Santoshi. Mr. Raval provided expert insights into navigating the complexities of AI-generated content, focusing on:

  • Integrity in the AI Era: How to maintain honesty when using technological support for research.
  • Best Practices: Effective methods for using text similarity detection tools to enhance the quality of academic work.
  • Pedagogical Support: Leveraging Turnitin to improve teaching and evaluation processes.

The programme saw enthusiastic engagement, with 70 participants attending in person and 50 joining online. The audience – a mix of faculty members, research scholars, and students – actively participated in a Q&A session, reflecting a collective drive to uphold the University of Hyderabad’s reputation for research excellence.

By hosting this initiative, the IGM Library continues to serve as a cornerstone for responsible scholarship, ensuring the university community is well-equipped to lead in the age of digital transformation.
