Guntur Seshendra Sharma Memorial Lecture (Hindi) at UoH
Prof. K.D. Tripathi, Advisor, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Varanasi delivered a lecture on ‘Indian Poetics and Aesthetics: Abhinavguptapada’s Integral and Inventive Vision’ in Hindi. The lecture was held as part of the Guntur Seshendra Sharma Memorial Lecture Series endowed by Smt. Indira Devi Dhanrajgir W/o. Guntur Seshendra Sharma on 20th January, 2014 at the Humanities Auditorium of the University of Hyderabad (UoH).
Prof. Tripathi explained the vision of Abhinavguptapada in simple words with examples in the modern global context. Prof. Tripathi underlined the significance of Abhinvguptapada’s art, music, aesthetics and poetics in the perspective of dialogue between India and the rest of the world.
Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor, UoH presided over the inaugural session. Welcome address was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Amitabh Dasgupta. Prof. V. Krishna, Head, Department of Hindi introduced the speaker. Dr. J. Atmaram, Asst. Professor, Department of Hindi proposed the Vote of thanks. The lecture was attended by many faculty members, research scholars and students of the University apart from many others from the twin cities.
