Instrumental Music performed by Beats of Kerala
Beats of Kerala, a six member band formed by the students of the University of Hyderabad gave a mesmerizing performance in the campus concert held on 21 March 2013 in the DST Auditorium. Performing to a packed audience the band performed both Indian and Western fusion instrumental music. The melodious music that flowed from the instruments kept the audience glued to their seats asking for more. The band performed Manasa Sancharare shyama ragam, Vatapi Ganapatim Bajeham Hamsa Dhwani, Enitavam (Malayalam Song), Chenda Melam (traditional music of Kerala), western fusion, Shinkari melam, Rahman’s compositions- O saya(Slumdog Millionaire) , Uyire and Bombay(film) theme music. It was truly an evening of soul-filled music showcasing the talents of the young students of the University of Hyderabad.
The band includes AbhayJith(school of Physics) on Flute, Rakesh(School of Physics) on Violin, Ashish(Dept. of English) on Guitar, Jithin(Dept of linguistics) on Drums, Easwar(Dept of English) on illathaalam, Sanal(School of Physics) on Durbukka and Tabla.
