On March 14, 2014, Dr. Vamsi Vakulabharanam who is on the SIP management Committee accepted the IIE Andrew Heiskell Awards for Innovation in International Education on behalf of the Study in India Program at the University of Hyderabad. The award was presented by Institute of International Education president Allan Goodman at IIE’s annual Best Practices in Internationalization Conference in New York City. The awards honour the most outstanding initiatives in international higher education among the member campuses of the IIENetwork, IIE’s membership association of more than 1,200 higher education institutions. More than 150 campus leaders and international education professionals in the United States and around the world attended the conference.
The SIP at the UoH is one of our flagship programs and the only one of its kind in India. We have not only successfully built a completely financially independent and self sufficient program but successfully internationalized the campus. The UGC has recognized the SIP as a pioneer and has been asking other universities in India to emulate this model.
