There is a beautiful Mongolian proverb that says, “Adorn yourself not with jewels, but with knowledge.” This proverb has guided me throughout my academic journey, and it was one of the reasons I chose to pursue my doctoral studies at the University of Hyderabad.
Looking back today, I can confidently say that studying here has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

When I first arrived in Hyderabad from Mongolia, I was entering a completely new academic and cultural environment. Like many international students, I was excited but also uncertain about what to expect. However, the university’s welcoming atmosphere quickly helped me feel at home. The green campus, diverse student community, and vibrant academic culture created an environment where learning became both enjoyable and inspiring.
One of the University of Hyderabad’s greatest strengths is its academic culture. The university encourages students to think critically, conduct independent research, and explore new ideas. Whether in the library, classrooms, seminars, or research discussions, there are countless opportunities to learn and grow. During my doctoral studies in Communication, I was constantly encouraged to broaden my perspectives and strengthen my research skills.
Beyond my supervisor’s calm guidance, I was fortunate to learn from many dedicated and erudite faculty members in the Department of Communication. Their doors were always open to students, and their encouragement, academic insights, and thoughtful discussions enriched my learning experience throughout my doctoral studies.
Another unique strength of the University of Hyderabad is holding of academic activities promoting learning. The university regularly hosts seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and academic discussions featuring distinguished scholars and researchers from India and around the world. These events provide students with opportunities to engage with new ideas, learn emerging research methods, and examine issues from multiple perspectives. For many students, including international scholars, such opportunities are invaluable. They make it possible to learn directly from leading academics from other universities and countries, experiences that might otherwise be difficult to access. Exposure to these diverse perspectives greatly enriches the learning experience and helps students develop as globally minded researchers.
Beyond academics, the University of Hyderabad provided opportunities to build friendships and professional networks with people from different regions, cultures, and backgrounds. These interactions broadened my understanding of the world and taught me the value of diversity in both academic and personal life.
Studying at the University of Hyderabad has been about much more than earning a degree. It has been a journey of intellectual growth, personal development, and self-discovery. The knowledge, confidence, and skills gained here will continue to shape future endeavors. What made my experience at the University of Hyderabad truly memorable was the combination of academic rigor, supportive faculty, and a diverse learning environment. Every day brought new opportunities to learn, question, and grow. Over time, the university became more than just a place of study. It became a place where I discovered myself, built friendships, strengthened my confidence, and prepared myself for the next stage of my academic and professional journey.
The University of Hyderabad educated and transformed me. The wings were always there. The university helped me unfold them and prepared me for the journey ahead.
