University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been ranked high among India’s Outstanding Universities for the year 2014 according to a survey carried out by the Outlook group publication, Careers360 and published in their March 2014 issue. http://www.university.careers360.com/articles/top-100-universities-in-india-2014
The survey ranks the UoH at fourth position among the Public Universities. More than 740 universities and institutions were researched for the publication record from Web of Science, patents (both granted and approved) NAAC rating score and student-faculty ratio. The University was rated based on Academic Output, Citation Impact, Intellectual Property, Research Productivity and Learning (Accreditation, Student-Faculty ratio and PhD’s).
Incidentally UoH has been ranked number one in the Learning (Accreditation, Student-Faculty ratio and PhD’s) criteria. Among the Southern Universities UoH is again ranked first. Overall the UoH has been ranked AAAA+ which puts the University as Outstanding with a percentile in the range of 90-94.
Another important aspect for UoH is that Dr. Ch Venkata Ramana, faculty in the Department of Plant Sciences has been mentioned as one of India’s Best Researchers in the field of Immunology and Microbiology. This study was undertaken by compiling the Elsevier Science’s Bibliographic indexing database – SCOPUS for three years (2011-2013).
The University has recently been re-accredited, in its third cycle, by NAAC with an ‘A’ Grade and CGPA 3.72 out of 4.00 which is the highest grade given to any institution in that cycle. The faculty of the University are well known internationally and their total publications as on date have crossed 16,000 since inception. It has more than 300 research projects valued above Rs: 250 crores.
