The School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad, is delighted to announce that Ms. Mehjabin Shirin, Ph.D. scholar (Optometry & Vision Science) working under the supervision of Dr. Shiva Ram Male, Assistant Professor, has been selected for the prestigious Inter-Society Colour Council (ISCC) – SCC Student Support Award. This international recognition is jointly supported by the Munsell Colour Science Laboratory and the Program of Colour Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), USA. The award acknowledges promising researchers advancing the field of colour science and its interdisciplinary links with vision and cognition. The USD 1,000 research support will contribute to Ms. Shirin’s doctoral work on Colour Perception and Dementia, an innovative study that bridges vision science, optometry, and cognitive neuroscience.
Her research explores how colour perception and visual processing change with cognitive decline, offering potential pathways for early diagnosis and intervention in dementia care.
