The National Commission for Women (NCW) has invited Prof. Rekha Pande, Head, Centre for Women’s studies and Professor in the Department of History, University of Hyderabad (UoH) as a National Resource Person for its Gender sensitisation and Gender Development programmes.
The National commission for women was set up as a statutory body in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, with a mandate to safeguard the constitutional rights of women. As part of this Prof. Rekha Pande will interact with different stakeholders like, Government Officials, Police personnel, Civil society and assist the Commission in its gender sensitisation programme through creation of resources, training and create an awareness on this issue throughout the country.
Prof. Rekha Pande has earlier been a member of the Feminist Jurisprudence Committee, National Commission for Women and Core Advisory Group and Sensitization and capacity building Towards Eliminating child labour in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. She has been nominated as the Peace ambassador’ for the South Asia region by the International Women’s Peace Group, Korea in 2016. She also served as a National Resource Person for the University Grants Commission (UGC) for Capacity Building of Women Managers in Higher Education. Prof. Rekha Pande, has an experience of more than three decades on Gender issues and had participated in various such programmes throughout the country. She has been a Gender trainer in the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Police Academy, Marri Chenna Reddy Institute of good Governance, Symbiosis Law College and in different Universities abroad and in India.
