A Journey of Academic and Professional Distinction

Hailing from Telangana, Dr. Sai Kumar’s journey toward administrative leadership was anchored in his time at the University of Hyderabad. After completing his Master’s degree in Political Science in 1987, he joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1990 as part of the Tamil Nadu cadre.

A Career Defined by Leadership

Over the past three decades, Dr. Sai Kumar has emerged as a high-profile and trusted bureaucrat, known for his ability to navigate complex crises and manage critical portfolios with finesse. His career highlights include:

Strategic Governance: Serving as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister (2018–2022), where he played a pivotal role in state administration.

Industrial Leadership: His most recent tenure as the Chairman of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL), showcasing his versatility in handling public sector undertakings.

Election Stewardship: His appointment by the Election Commission of India (ECI) ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections underscores the immense trust placed in his neutrality and administrative expertise during crucial democratic transitions.
