Noah Simon Kolikapudi, a PhD student from the Department of English presented a paperĀ at the 120th Annual Conference organized by PAMLA (Pacific Ancient and Modern Languages Association) from 25-29 October 2023 in Portland, Oregon.
HisĀ research area is Jewish American Literature. The paper titled, “The Rabbi’s Fiction: Situating the Novels of Chaim Potok in the ‘American Talmud'” was presented as part of the ‘Bible and Literature’ panel. The paper examines the novels of Chaim Potok and presents them as insightful commentaries on Jewish scripture and ethics. It establishes his fiction as a quintessential example of the ‘American Talmud’, emphasizing the interplay of religion and literature in his narratives.
